Knowledge and information are intertwined, but they are not the same thing. Knowledge management (KM) is a field of computer science, which proposes methods for making knowledge explicit, by representing and sharing information resources. This book is intended to present the methods through which organizations can create knowledge, share existing or new knowledge, and distribute to employees, managers, customers, and suppliers. The information has always been an integral component of business strategy. However, with the rise of information technology (IT) and globalization of businesses, information has taken a far more important role in explaining business performance. This book focuses on managing knowledge in shared spaces.
