Genetic engineering has transformed fundamental plant research and augmented strategic improvements in crops. Continuous practice of traditional methods in agriculture cannot reduce the food scarcity, as the over use of chemicals, drought and infertile soil are severe issues where the investment is more and the yielding is less, these all due to unpredictable climatic changes and uncontrolled pesticides. To overcome these issues scientist have concentrated on the new technology by combining the specific genes in-vivo for the crops which is called transgenic crops/plants.  Researchers aim to assemble group of genes in a plant/crop to overcome the various aspects which are harmful to plant and are decreasing the yield. Food production will need to increase at the same rate or more in order to satisfy the needs of growing populations in world. So, there is a need to use the genetic techniques to improve crops over the recent decades. Through the use of transgenic technologies, one can produce plants with desired traits and even increased yields. Transgenic plant production will allow us to feed the growing population and to produce more desirable products. Development of competent transformation protocols is gaining a harmonising strategy to conventional breeding techniques for the improvement of crops.

Transgenic Plants and Crops covers the recent advances carried on improvement of transformation techniques with assessment of the impact of genetically transformed crops on biosafety. The contributed chapters have been written worldwide eminent experts and researchers in the field. The implementation of the improvements to the design of GM crops discussed in this book would also further encourage the general public and pave the way for widespread acceptance of a technology that will be crucial in helping to improve current and future challenges in food and medicine supply.

This book will be helpful to a wide range peoples; readers, scientists, researchers and associated professionals.
